Who,What,When & Why.

The Who? Julian Madison Lenard Wilson (that’s his middle name, for real), Michael Eugene Fanning and Taj Amos Burrow. Plus an assortment of photogs, filmers, editors, managers and miscellaneous hangers-on, too numerous to mention.

The What? It’s the final trip for Scratching the Surface, Julian’s upcoming signature film epic.

The Where? On the west coast. Jules called on Taj to show him some of the fun ramps he’d seen in TB’s earlier movies.

The Why? Since busting his foot a few months back Julian hasn’t had the chance to collect any recent clips for the movie. WIth his foot just about back to normal he wanted to get some new gold for the film and invited Taj and Mick, two of his surfing heroes, along for the ride.

Mick flick passes. Preferes to flick his tail though.

Day one happenings…
There’s swell. Rabbit Hill is junky but Mick, Julian and Taj hit it early. It’s hard to read, looks more like river rapids than surf. The common man would struggle but Mick, Taj and Julian do okay. The best turn of the session is a fins free pocket explosion by Mick. Taj does a lengthy alley oop. Julian lands airs aplenty but nothing that will end up in the movie. Two more sessions follow. One at Supertubes sees the boys launching into a dreamy air wind. There’s some keepers in the bag before Taj hits his board trying to stomp a big one. His fin takes a little fillet off the bottom of his thumb. There’s no tears, it won’t hurt his title campaign but it stings dammit, so he heads in. Mick and Jules hit Rabbits for the late. Couple more clips for the movie are put away and some epic photos for the feature story in Waves are nailed. Day one could be called a success. More tomozz.
