Time To Get Kerrazy

Josh Kerr’s been posted up in the U.S for the last couple of months living the life of a professional surfer. In between trips to Central America, he’s been busy trying to put the finishing touches of his upcoming profile flick ‘Kerrazy Kronicles.’ It’s going to be cover mounted on Waves in the coming months and from the trailer it looks like it could be the film of the year. We gave Kerrsy a quick call to see how life is going in the States, what we can expect from his movie and if he’ll ever do another contest.

How’s life been in the States?
Yeah, it’s been great mate. We’ve just gotten back from a trip to Barbados and scored pumping waves. A hurricane was down there when we arrived and the place was insane. We ended up surfing that wave that Kelly surfed in Campaign called Soupbowls. It was like eight foot, crazy perfect barrels. There are a few secret set-ups down there that are mind blowing.

Why did you decide to base yourself in the States?
My chick is originally from here and I’ve always wanted to do a little stint here. I did a couple of months living in Bali with the family and I guess we just wanted to follow the summer around. We got rid of a few responsibilities by selling the houses that we owned on the Goldy so we could have a full-on gypsy year chasing the summer.

How’s the progress of your movie coming along?
Yeah we’re just in the process of getting the music ready. I think we’ve nailed enough clips especially with the recent trip to Barbados. I wanted to take a fair bit of time with the music because I didn’t want any B-grade stuff in there. We’ve got a few of hookups so hopefully we’ll do a good job.

Where did you get the majority of the clips?
That Barbados trip was crazy so you’ll see a fair chunk of stuff in there. We’ve got a fair bit of stuff from Bali and other areas of Indo. We scored at home all through last year too, so there are plenty of solid clips. I guess anything we score now is a bonus.

Will we see you return to contests?
Um, yeah, I guess I will. I’ve got three comps in Brazil that I’m heading to this week, so hopefully I’ll do well over there. The film took a little bit of my focus away from the comps but I’m getting back into them.

Where will you be heading?
After Brazil I’ve got a couple all over the place. There’s one in Santa Cruz and another in the Canary Islands that I’ll be heading to. I want to do as many six-star prime contests as I can before I head to Hawaii. I’m then on the North Shore for a month doing the Triple Crown. It’s definitely still a goal of mine to qualify again.
